the freshman fifteen

my freshman year ended today, may 11, at approximately12:50pm when i walked out of my public speaking. it seems weird that its gone so fast.
i'm pretty sure i just moved all my stuff into my dorm two days ago and now here i am dragging box after box after box out. (and i thought i had a lot of stuff when i moved in, but moving out...how did i accumulate that much crap?! and i even threw out like 18-hundred bags of garbage)

but the freshman fifteen, everyone knows what it is. but we all think of it as sort of a myth.
i can tell you that the freshman fifteen doesn't exist.

its more like the freshman fifteen-HUNDRED! ugh all the greasy food, and all the not exercise-ness.

but! it's my goal, this summer! lose the fifteen-hundred pounds. get back to pre-college. i can do it.

his stuff

so you and you ex have broken up. and it's been about 10 months since the break up.

fastforward to the end of a fabulous freshman year. you talk to that ex maybe once every three weeks if that. but you don't even notice it unless you happen to see him pop up in that facebook newsfeed and think "when was the last time i talked to thak goof" then move on to something new.

but it's the end of the year and your packing the room, you find the box reminisce.

now! what to do. in that box is just like letters and pictures, things of that nature. as well as, lets just say, a "baseball" jersey that was his form when he was younger and you would wear to his games as you cheered him on. now when you were dating, yah it was super special, and when you first broke up, he wanted you to keep it and you did esp. for sentimental reasons. but now...it's 10 or more months later..and you don't have any reason to keep it, sure your friends but not that close anymore. it's his from little leagues, so you'd think he'd want it back for his own memories so you tell him your going to mail it to him...

his response...."that's mean"

what? i'm mean? i'm sorry you confuse me.

its a baby. wait it's a burrito.

i stumbled upon this today. may i ask how someone mistook a burrito for an infant. i mean i understand that infants are small, but what size burrito was in that trashcan for someone to mistake it for an infant!! really?
and what stupid walmart workers or even costumers looked in the trashcan saw the "infant" and decided:
'oh. look theres a baby. i think i'll leave it in the trashcan for twenty or more mins while i go outside call my manager, have him then phone the police, and wait for the police to arrive and rescue the infant from the trashcan.' or did a customer go to throw their towel out, happen to glance down, say to theirself 'i think that might be an infant, i'm unsure though' then did they finish their shopping and in the check out line happen to mention to the cashier 'hey, i didn't want to say anything, but i think there might be an infant in the women's bathroom trashcan.' and then that cashier waited to do anything till the police arrived.

i just don't understand! if i happen to glance into the trashcan an i note that their might be a child in the trashcan...I'M REACHING IN THAT TRASHCAN AND GRABBING THAT BABY OUT!! i'm not walking out and letting someone know, i'm not waiting for police to come. i'm ripping into that trashcan and yanking the infant out, and if happens to not actually an infant and turns out to be burrito...i'm laughing at myself and telling my friends so they can laugh at/ with me. i'm not calling the police and letting my embarrassment run in the sunday newspaper. just saying.

just noting how dumb as a post are these people, and how dumb is the newspaper for posting such an embarrassing story. but it brings amusement to my day, so let the stupid people continue on their merry way.

stumbling upon procrastination

stumbleupon. a phenomenon that has been sweeping Auburn's campus and I'm betting universities everywhere.
we, as college students, love procrastination. any reason to put off homework, studying, cleaning or laundry, we jump on it.
currently, i'm in rbd convincing my self that i have time to blog and stumble around the internet because my study partner has yet to arrive; cuz, studying by myself...never!
and with our love for procrastination, the internet has become our favorite resource. with stalking around facebook, reading tfln or constantly refreshing our mailbox (you never know who can email you and need a response in five seconds...), it's virtually impossible to get any work done without a strong will.
many times i've had to leave my laptop in the dorm or unchecked my internet connection just to accomplish anything.
and now..with stumbleupon, we can just say i'm addicted.
stumbleupon is (according to wikipedia) "an Internet community that allows its users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos." but my terms, its a plug-in for my browser that lets me click on button and takes me on a journey to the internet's random-est websites, pictures and videos.
my friend, julia, introduced me to it one night at the lib as i was leaving at 10pm. i proceeded to sit down and "stumble" for about 2 and a half hours. [thanks julia :/ ]

it's now my habit to sit have a tab open exclusively for stumbleupon, not matter what i'm doing. it will just be open and periodically i will click the 'magic' stumble button and get a random picture and list of facts. (i'm weird because i save the pictures i like to my computer and use them as backgrounds (645 pictures to be exact), i have a that supercute puppy now. i actually just stumbleupon this video that i really enjoyed.

challenge: bet you can't stumble just once

dead day

dead day.
it's supposed to be the day after the last day of classes so that we, the students of auburn university, have time to prepare ourselves for finals. however, since it's start, may people have strayed from it's original use.
"yay, dead day is tomorrow, so i'm going to get wasted tonight since i have all day tomorrow to study."
really? that's funny because i can guarantee that getting hammered tonight is in no way gonna make you wanna do work tomorrow. i can promise, when you wake up at 12pm with a splitting headache you're not going to want to go to rbd and study. you're just going to rollover and go back to sleep, wake up at about 6pm freak out because you have two finals the next day. then your going to head to the draughon and pull an all-nighter.
and really had you used dead day correctly...you would have studied all day and gone to sleep at a decent time and thus been well rested for your finals the next day. instead of following up "dead day" with a walk of the dead to your final.

i'm not saying that i'm using my dead day correctly. yes i was at the library lastnight till about 11:30pm then i came home and watched half a movie with the rooms (aka roommate). i didn't wake up till 11:00 this morning and now i just started a blog. a really studious dead day...not. and i'm not planning to start studying till at least 5:30pm, because i have a retreat from 1-5.
and i already have a break planned for 11:30pm because muuu DUH the rbd rave is then?! and who wants to miss that? not me.

so dead day. auburn, we need to get ourselves back on track and start using it to actually study. because guess what, next semester...we don't have one :( sad day, right?
thanks auburn for taking our dead day from us. and trying to make it up my giving us two spring 2011, yah its cool, but we're just going to be more unproductive now that we have a large break.
